CNC milling machines can be generally divided into the following categories according to the position of the spindle:

 

1. Vertical CNC milling machine: The axis of the vertical CNC milling machine is perpendicular to the horizontal plane. It is the axis of the CNC milling machine whose spindle axis is perpendicular to the horizontal plane. It is a common layout form in CNC milling machines and has a wide range of applications. From the point of view of the number of coordinates controlled by the CNC system of the machine tool, the current 2-axis CNC vertical milling still accounts for the majority; generally, 3 coordinate processing can be performed, but some machines can only perform coordinate processing of any two of the three coordinates (often Called 2.5 coordinate processing). In addition, there are four-coordinate and 5-coordinate CNC vertical milling that the machine tool spindle can perform CNC swing motion around one or two of the X, Y, and Z coordinate axes.

 

2, the gantry type CNC milling machine; the CNC gantry milling machine spindle can move on the horizontal and vertical rails of the gantry, and the gantry moves longitudinally along the bed. Large-scale CNC milling machines should take into account the technical problems of expanding the stroke and reducing the floor space, and often adopt the gantry mobile type.

 

3, horizontal CNC milling machine; horizontal CNC milling machine is the same as ordinary horizontal milling machine, its spindle axis is parallel to the horizontal plane, mainly used for processing box parts. In order to expand the processing range and expansion functions, horizontal CNC milling machines usually use the addition of CNC rotary table or CNC rotary table to achieve 4, 5 coordinate processing. In this way, not only the continuous swivel profile on the side of the workpiece can be machined, but also in one installation, the station can be changed by the turntable, and four-sided machiningcan be performed.

 

Fourth, vertical and horizontal CNC milling machine. The spindle direction of the vertical and horizontal CNC milling machine can be replaced. It can be used for vertical machining or horizontal machining on one machine. It also has the functions of the above two types of machine tools. It has a wider range of functions and functions. All, the choice of processing objects is more room, bringing a lot of convenience to users.

 

The vertical and horizontal CNC milling machine replaces the spindle direction by manual or automatic. Some vertical and horizontal CNC milling machines use a CNC spindle head that can be converted in any direction by the spindle head, so that it can machine the surface of the workpiece at different angles from the horizontal plane. It is also possible to add a numerical control turntable on the workbench of this type of milling machine to achieve Five-sided machining of parts.
